The Men's Pyjamas Guide

We all like the finer things in life, and why not.  Indeed, I would go so far as to say we all deserve a little luxury in life and what easier way to spoil yourself than with a pair of silk pyjamas.  Silk pyjamas are the ultimate statement of style in mens sleepwear.

Silk is a wholly natural material and for that reason alone makes great sleepwear.  It is warm in winter and cool in summer.  It looks great and, most importantly, it feels great.  Nothing feels as good as soft silk sliding sensuously over your skin.  It is no wonder that silk is a favourite choice for more “romantic” attire.

Again, silk pyjamas for men now come in a variety of styles but it is hard to beat the traditional pants and jacked combination.  My preference is for plain colours in high quality silk with maybe a little detailing on the lapels.  However, if you prefer patterned silk pyjamas then try and keep the pattern tasteful and subdued.  This is sleepwear after all and you do now want something to loud and jarring in your bedroom and most certainly not in someone else’s boudoir.

If you are investing in silk pyjamas then go for the best quality you can afford.  Yes, it will cost more and need more care but they will last and look great for years to come.  Be careful too to carry through the sophisticated look with the rest of your nightwear.  Silk is best matched with a rich dressing gown.  You can’t beat a good mans silk dressing gown but velvet, or maybe satin, will also look well.  Your slippers, if you wear them, should also be of good quality.

While silk makes great sleepwear, and many women like their man in silk, it is less suitable for loungewear as it can make you look overdressed.  Just think how you would look answering the door to the postman, for example.  Silk pyjamas for men or for that more intimate, personal touch and to be enjoyed alone or with a special person.  For loungewear, I always recommend cotton pyjamas for men.

As I always say – if you look good, you feel good.  We spend about a third of our lives in bed but that’s no reason why we shouldn’t look good there too.  Why not make that big chunk of your life a little bit more special by wearing some silk mens pyjamas?
